In life, it’s best to be well-rounded. If you can be, that is. Alternatively, if you’re not well-rounded, you’d better at least be strong in your specialization. In the NBA, sometimes, that’s not even enough.
You could be one of the best shooters in the world. If you’re a defensive liability, you may have a hard time seeing the floor.
For example, look at Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat. His defensive deficiencies have largely kept him out of their rotation in spite of his elite shooting.
Still, if a team was desperate enough for floor spacing, they could find a use for him.
If you have LeBron James to space out for along with talents like Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook, there could be a logical ecosystem to bring the best out of Robinson.
Could the Los Angeles Lakers be that desperate?
