The Los Angeles Lakers have faced a lot of naysayers and negativity thus far in the 2022-23 NBA season. The front office has not yet made a move to upgrade the roster, which even the most casual of basketball fans could deduce as something that the team needs.
The injury to Anthony Davis, who was playing at an MVP level, looked like it would be the final nail in the coffin. Either the front office would step up and make a trade to help fill the void or the team’s season would derail. Neither of those things has happened.
In typical superstar fashion, LeBron James has instead put the team on his back and is carrying them to victories. James, who is closing in quickly on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for points in a career, is stuffing the stat sheet and willing the team to victory.
The Lakers have won five games in a row, which he made sure to point out in a recent tweet responding to a story by Sam Amick of The Athletic. Amick seems to have poached a part of the interview he had with James to paint a different picture than the one that James was trying to convey. That wasn’t something Amick was going to get away with on James’ watch.
That is about as respectful of a clapback that you will see on social media. James went on to add that was with the utmost respect and calmness because that is the mood he is in with how well his team is playing.
