Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
While the Kings are preparing for a playoff push, the Bulls may be preparing for a fire sale. Plenty of observers expect this team to blow up their core.
Who could blame them? Sure, the Bulls have looked a bit better lately. At 19-21, they’ve still been a disappointment. In all likelihood, this team is still not built to win in any significant way.
At the same time, the Bulls owe their first-round pick to the Orlando Magic with top-4 protection. If they didn’t, they may have made big moves earlier in the season. If they don’t want to bottom out entirely, that’s understandable.
This deal won’t force them to. They’ll still have Zach LaVine. Holmes may be a better fit than Vucevic in the starting lineup as a solid rim protector.

Finally, Mitchell is already a quality defensive guard. This deal helps the Bulls’ future without entirely tanking their present.
It could be a good move for them – with some luck, of course.
