Sometimes, the best marriage is one of convenience. We’re not talking about real marriages. That’s not a topic we’re qualified to discuss. At the same time, if you’re only married because it’s convenient, we’re pretty sure that’s a problem. We’re talking about NBA trades.
Often, the best trades occur because two teams have needs that they can help each other fulfill.
For example, the Cleveland Cavaliers need a wing. The hope was for Isaac Okoro to improve as a 3-point shooter to help cleanly fit the starting small forward role. He has yet to do so.
With the Cavaliers being in a win-now mode after the Donovan Mitchell trade, there is little time to wait for Okoro to make that improbable jump.
On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns need another player who can create offense. The team has dealt with injuries to Chris Paul and Devin Booker at times without depth to sustain success.
Could these two teams make a convenient trade this season?
