Looking for any help they can get, the Los Angeles Lakers are keeping all of their options open. They are involved in plenty of NBA trade rumors, but free agency could also provide them an avenue to add talent to their roster.
With the injury to Anthony Davis, naturally, some of the attention has been given to the frontcourt. Replacing Davis’ production has been a total team effort as there isn’t a single player on the roster capable of picking up all of that slack.
Looking to bolster that depth, the Lakers are bringing in a familiar face for a workout. According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, DeMarcus Cousins will get a chance to show Los Angeles what he can do very soon.
“Four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins is expected to work out for the Los Angeles Lakers at some point next week, league sources tell Bleacher Report. The official date has yet to be determined, sources say.”
Cousins has been looking for a team to join after spending the 2021-22 campaign with the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks. He was solid off the bench in a part-time role, averaging 9.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks in 15 minutes per game.

The former All-NBA and All-Star big man has been in Las Vegas putting in work six days a week at the gym. With 10-day contracts now being allowed, Cousins could garner some interest around the league from teams looking for some frontcourt help. As long as Davis is sidelined, the Lakers would qualify.
Cousins would provide the team with some more insurance in the frontcourt as he has shown he is capable of producing even in a small role. However, it would certainly be in a reserve role. That is because Thomas Bryant has been excellent since stepping into the starting lineup. In his last 10 games, starting in place of Davis, Bryant has been doing his best impersonation of The Brow.
