In asking how the Philadelphia 76ers could improve, we can ask a related question: what do the Sixers need? 

Realistically, not much. At the same time, a backup big man for Embiid would be nice. Furthermore, any contending team can always use some spacing in the frontcourt. 

This deal nets them both in one package. Olynyk is a combo big who can play at the 4 and the 5, and provide quality spacing from either.

He’s also a surprisingly adept defender and playmaker who would make this team better.

Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz get younger here. It’s hard to identify whether this team is rebuilding or not, but if they are, flipping Olynyk for Thybulle and Reed is a good decision. 

On the other hand, the Sixers could be after a bigger fish. If so, this next deal may suit them better.
