When two teams have separate needs that each other can meet, oftentimes, a trade is born.
For example, the Cleveland Cavaliers could use a wing. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks could use a player with some shot-creating abilities.
Both of these teams have needs that the other could meet. Luka Doncic could use more teammates that can dribble while the Cavs need to add more 3-and-D options that actually fulfill the “3” portion.
These two sides have mutually exclusive needs, so they could make a mutually beneficial arrangement.
