It’s been said that you shouldn’t let great be the enemy of good. Is that true in the NBA — a league that is built on title contention or bust?
Whether that’s accurate is a bit subjective. There’s no shame in striving for greatness. At the same time, if you’ve got something good, there’s no shame in deciding that it’s good enough.
NBA teams need to ask themselves that question sometimes. A team may be good – is it good enough? For that matter, is it even close to being good enough?
The New York Knicks may be grappling with those questions. At 21-18, this team is good.
By contrast, the 17-21 Chicago Bulls clearly aren’t good enough.
