Why The Minnesota Timberwolves Do The Deal
The Timberwolves may have made a mistake this summer. The fit between Rudy Gobert and Towns is not bearing much fruit thus far.
It may be that the pair are too collectively slow. Towns is struggling to guard the perimeter. Meanwhile, the Wolves generally struggle to capitalize on transition opportunities with such a lumbering frontcourt pairing.
Meanwhile, these issues are all impacting Anthony Edwards. His game is predicated on pace, and this group isn’t helping him play with it. This deal could fix all of those problems.
It may actually make the Wolves better right now. Rozier should be a major upgrade over D’Angelo Russell. P.J. Washington is exactly the type of combo big who allows a team to pick up the pace.
