When it comes to building an NBA team, there are no strict rules. However, there are some general guidelines. 

For example, you should not rush the rebuilding process. Trying to build a winning team when your young roster isn’t ready to win can be a problem. After all, you’ve likely surrendered assets in your efforts to do so. 

At the same time, you don’t want to wait around forever. If your young team looks poised to improve, you ought to improve it. Just make sure you’re making the right improvement. 

By now, it looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves may have erred in adding Rudy Gobert to their roster. His fit with Karl-Anthony Towns has been questionable.

By contrast, the Oklahoma City Thunder have, at times, looked like a team that’s ready to take a step forward.
