Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

If the Bulls do this deal, they ought to do a series of deals with the future in mind. 

After all, the incoming players here are of no major consequence. Morris and Kennard are both solid rotation guys, but neither is appropriate compensation for a player like DeRozan. 

The Bulls would strictly be flipping DeRozan for a first-round pick and a swap. This deal has no intention of making their 2022-23 season better. If anything, it’s designed to make it worse. 

After all, the Bulls owe their first-round pick to the Orlando Magic with top four protection in the upcoming draft. If they bottom out hard enough, they may just keep it.
