The Detroit Pistons currently own the worst record in the NBA. While many people expected them to pile up losses this season, there was some belief inside the organization that they could possibly battle for a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament at the very least. But, at this point, the Pistons will compete for ping-pong balls more than a playoff spot.
With Cade Cunningham being lost for the season due to injury, Detroit’s aspirations to make a postseason run went out the door. Despite that, the Pistons could still have an impact on the playoff races in the league.
Not only could they play spoiler down the stretch, but the landscape could shift depending on what trades are made. The Pistons may not make the postseason themselves, but they could help a team make a run with some of the players that they have available for trade.
Veterans Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks, and Nerlens Noel have all been discussed to varying degrees in trade discussions. Given the team’s current state, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see any of them on the move, especially with how well Bogdanovic and Burks have been playing.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Saddiq Bey & Detroit Pistons Updates
Another name to keep an eye on is Saddiq Bey. The third-year forward out of Villanova has had an inconsistent role this season and is someone that Detroit could be open to moving. However, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, the asking price is very high.
The Pistons are seeking an unprotected first-round pick in exchange for Bey, which is an asking price not many teams are going to be willing to meet. Their interest in trading him could be money-based as Bey is eligible for his rookie extension this upcoming season. If Detroit no longer sees him as part of their long-term plan, getting some value in exchange for him ahead of the deadline would make sense.

The usual suspects on the lookout for a 3-and-D caliber wing will likely check in on Bey also. But, given his contract situation, his market could be expanded as even rebuilding teams with a need at small forward could make a call looking to bolster their perimeter rotation.
