Kevin Durant Fires Back At ‘Crying’ Over Warriors Decision

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has played exceptionally well thus far this NBA season. He is a big reason why the team is currently on a 10-game winning streak and climbing the Eastern Conference standings every day.

At 23-12, they are now only 2.5 games behind the Boston Celtics for the No. 1 seed. Brooklyn has gone 14-2 since Thanksgiving, showcasing just how dominant of a team they can be when the focus is solely on the basketball court. But, if there is a player that always has time to answer some critics on social media in between hooping, it is Durant.

Durant is very active on NBA Twitter, routinely answering fans and combating trolls all at once. Most recently, Durant has become a topic of discussion again because of a video that has gone viral in which Evan Turner, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, was interviewing Andre Iguodala.

Turner brought up the Golden State Warriors dynasty that included the signing of Durant as a free agent in 2016 after they eliminated Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals but were defeated in the NBA Finals by the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games, blowing a 3-1 lead. Turner did not hold back on sharing his opinion of how things went down.

A Twitter user responded, agreeing with Turner’s take. He took it a step further, including Durant and saying that he knew it was lame and was part of the reason that he left. Deciding that he had the time today, Durant engaged and fired back at people still “crying,” as he put it, about him joining the Warriors.

Golden State did make things look easy at times with Durant in the fold as opponents couldn’t keep up with him, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. However, their success did end up taking a toll. All four players have dealt with significant injuries since, starting during the 2019 NBA Postseason, which ended with a defeat in the NBA Finals at the hands of the Toronto Raptors.

It was certainly a jarring decision for the basketball world when Durant opted to sign with the Warriors as a free agent, especially since he and Russell Westbrook had gotten so close to dethroning them during the 2016 postseason.

While some fans were disappointed that he didn’t stick around with the Thunder, Durant is far from the first player to ever join other superstars to create a superteam and he will not be the last.
