Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
The Bulls don’t do this deal with 2022-23 in mind at all.
At 14-19, they’ve got little left to salvage for this year. People around the NBA see the Bulls as a potential blow-up candidate, and it isn’t hard to see why.
If the Bulls are going to rebuild, this is a good move. Vucevic is old, a defensive liability, and about to hit free agency – if they can get an unprotected first-round pick for him, they shouldn’t hesitate.
If there are any reservations from Chicago here, they’ll pertain to absorbing Robinson’s contract. That shouldn’t stop them from doing this deal.

If the Bulls are rebuilding, they likely won’t need cap space for a few years anyway. Unless they somehow stumble into an elite big man, anyway.
