A lot of thought goes into building an NBA roster. If you hope to contend, you need to do a lot of things right. 

Firstly, you need to accumulate enough talent. That’s the first prerequisite. If you don’t have enough talent on your squad, you won’t be able to compete at the highest level. 

At the same time, that talent needs to fit together. In NBA history, plenty of teams have tried to shoehorn a number of great players together that just don’t have comparable strengths and weaknesses. 

For example, look at the Minnesota Timberwolves. At 16-18, it’s looking increasingly like their frontcourt pairing of Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns is too slow to co-exist.

On the other hand, the Pelicans seem to have both the talent and the fit. 

How dangerous would they be if they added Towns?
