Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
Simple: they wouldn’t. Unless, of course, they have to.
The Hornets are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season. Granted, Ball has been injured for most of the year. That happens to be the problem.
Perhaps Ball would like to play for a team that can weather his absences. The Hornets aren’t set up to be that team for a long time. Of course, they should hang onto Ball if they can – but if he already wants to get out of town, they may be best to cut their losses.
This would be a good way to do it. Four first-round picks and a swap is a return worthy of a player of Ball’s caliber, and Quickley has tremendous upside as well.

Meanwhile, taking a flier on Reddish doesn’t hurt, either. If the Hornets get really lucky, he could still develop into a star.
