In the NBA, veterans serve different roles on different teams.
Rebuilding teams don’t always covet veterans. At the same time, they benefit from having some around. After all, the kids need guidance – who better to give it to them than someone who’s been around the NBA?
At the same time, a rebuilding team can usually be coaxed into parting with a veteran. Sure, that mentorship is valuable – is it more valuable than future-focused assets?
