The struggles of the Golden State Warriors on the road continued during Wednesday night’s NBA action as they lost 125-119 to the Indiana Pacers. Golden State is now 14-15 on the season, and their record on the road fell to 2-13. Even worse, things are about to get much tougher for the Warriors.
On top of losing the game to the Pacers, the Warriors also lost star point guard Stephen Curry to a shoulder injury. Curry injured his left shoulder trying to swipe the ball away from Jalen Smith in the third quarter. He went back down the court grabbing his left shoulder, leading to the Warriors calling a timeout to get him off the court.
He was checked out by trainers on the bench before heading into the locker room. He was officially ruled out in the fourth quarter and will miss plenty of more games. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Curry is going to miss a few weeks because of the injury.
This is a devastating blow for the Warriors as they have struggled mightily with Curry in the lineup. He was carrying the team against Indiana as he scored 38 points with seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block in only 30 minutes.
LATEST NBA NEWS: Stephen Curry & Golden State Warriors Updates
It is hard to imagine where Golden State would have been this season without him in the lineup, and we are unfortunately going to find out in the coming weeks. Replacing Curry normally is a tall task given the impact that he has on the game, but when he is playing at the level that he has been, it is an impossible task.
Steve Kerr is going to have to hope that his other proven players, such as Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, can pick up the slack. This is a golden opportunity for one of the young players to showcase their skill and prove to Kerr that they should be in the rotation full time the remainder of the season.
