Kyrie Irving’s Nets Future Depends On 1 Major Factor

The Brooklyn Nets have dealt with a lot this NBA season. Head coach Steve Nash parted ways with the franchise after a 2-5 start that was punctuated by Kyrie Irving being suspended because of anti-Semitic material that he shared on his social media page.

Injuries and constant lineup changes have also been an issue. Irving has missed nine games thus far, while Ben Simmons has missed 10 and Seth Curry has missed 11.

Every player has missed at least one game, making things difficult for Jacque Vaughn at times when it comes to setting a rotation.

Despite that, he has been able to get things back on track. Brooklyn has won eight of their last nine games to move to 17-12 on the season. They are currently sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference as things are going about as well as possible.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant & Brooklyn Nets Updates

There hasn’t been drama for a little while and the organization is hoping that remains the case for as long as possible. Whatever can be done to ensure that not changing, the Nets are willing to do so. That could include riding things out with Irving despite his long-term future with the team remaining up in the air. Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report shared the update.

“The last thing they want is to inspire another [Kevin Durant] trade demand,” one executive said.

“The market for Irving may be a team of one (the Lakers), but he still makes the list of interesting players to watch. If Durant did push out again, the Raptors may have the best combination of players and picks to offer. But that doesn’t look to be in the cards, at least as of mid-December. “

When things are clicking, the Nets look like a team that can contend for a championship. That is the ultimate goal and the front office and ownership aren’t going to do anything to disrupt that. Unless they are blown away by a trade offer, they will not do anything to shake up the current dynamic of the roster.

The Nets made their bed with Durant and Irving and now they have to sleep in it. While the long-term pairing may not be for long, the Nets will do whatever is needed to give them their best chance at succeeding this season in what is very likely their last hurrah together.
