For a moment, disregard the question of whether the Pistons ought to move Bey. If the rumor mill has any validity in it, they’re open to doing so. 

Perhaps that’s due to Bey’s limited floor spacing. He can get hot from downtown, but he’s not consistent. That’s a big issue for this Pistons team. 

After all, they’re supposed to be built around their dynamic young backcourt of Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey. They’re both electric on-ball playmakers, but neither looks like a knockdown shooter either.

To make the pairing work, the Pistons will need to surround them with shooting.

This deal allows them to do so. The Suns’ first-round pick won’t land in the lottery, but it will allow the Pistons to select a young player who fits their vision more snugly.
