Being the general manager of an NBA team has got to be stressful. 

The stakes are high. Meanwhile, all eyes are on you. The temptation to make a bold move may be strong, but if it fails, it could cost you your reputation – not to mention your job. 

At the same time, refusing to act could have the same consequences. It may be that the best thing you can do is be realistic about your team’s situation, and act accordingly. 

For example, the Sacramento Kings may be in an optimal position to make a big deal as buyers. At 14-11, this team has surpassed expectations in 2022-23 – why not go all the way? 

By contrast, the Toronto Raptors have been underwhelming at 13-14. Some figure they could be big sellers this season.
