The Los Angeles Lakers have the luxury of receiving LeBron James’ final NBA phase while getting MVP-level play from Anthony Davis as of late. The iron may never be hotter to strike upon. Could they make a backcourt upgrade using a trade with the New York Knicks?
In the NBA, market size is supposed to be an advantage. Somebody forgot to tell the New York Knicks that. After all, the Knicks haven’t had a real chance at an NBA title in over 20 years.
Some will chalk it up to chronic mismanagement, while others will say they’ve had bad luck. No matter how you prefer to explain it, the Knicks have been in trouble for a while.
On the other hand, the Lakers have done well with their massive market. In fact, they were the 2019-20 NBA champions. With that said, they have been doing less well since that season.
In fact, the 11-15 Lakers are widely expected to make a major move this season. Most proposals have them attaching draft capital to Russell Westbrook’s contract in order to improve the roster.
