Of course, we can’t blame the Knicks for wanting a star player. It’s been quite some time since they had one. 

Realistically, the last player to meet that description to suit up for the Knicks was Carmello Anthony. At the same time, Anthony was a bit outside of his prime for most of his tenure in Madison Square Garden. 

Prior to Anthony, it was Patrick Ewing. Ask your dad about him. He was great. He also played a very long time ago. 

Otherwise, Knicks fans have been long-suffering. Chalk it up to a combination of bad luck and bad management.

At the same time, give this current group credit for the sheer mass of assets they’ve managed to collect. There does appear to be a plan here.
