With that said, different players fall out of favor for different reasons. In these situations, context is key. 

For example, Reddish is a player who once had high expectations. He was a top high school prospect. In theory, he was supposed to be a 3-and-D wing with secondary shot-creating abilities.

Unfortunately, neither the 3 nor the D have been consistent at the NBA level. 

Meanwhile, Nunn was a relatively unheralded prospect. For a while, he looked like a hidden gem. By now, his efficiency has hit a point where perhaps his lack of fanfare as a prospect was justified.

Both of these players took very different paths to ultimately end up in a similar position – in the NBA, but not getting much run. Still, either could improve their stock with a change of scenery.
