Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
We’re not certain this deal will make the Bulls better in 2022-23. At the same time, it very well might.
After all, the Bulls have enough one-way players. Neither DeMar DeRozan nor Zach LaVine is exactly a defensive stopper. Throw in Vucevic, and this roster starts to feel redundant.
Claxton fixes that. As a big man who can protect the rim and survive in space, he’s an ideal modern defensive big. Meanwhile, adding an elite floor spacer like Harris will complement both of their primary ball handlers.
On the other hand, if this deal doesn’t improve the team, little is lost. In fact, at 9-14, the Bulls have little to lose. If nothing else, they’re flipping Vucevic for the much younger Claxton.

If they’re forced to rebuild, he’ll help them assemble a team that plays both ends of the floor this time.
