Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

It’s ironic. We wrote all those words about defense, and we’re about to focus on juicing the Nets’ offense instead. 

That makes sense. The Nets badly need a big man who can stretch the floor. The severity of that need owes to those same limitations that Simmons deals with. 

When Simmons shares the floor with Claxton, the Nets have three-out spacing. In the modern NBA, that’s unacceptable. Adding Vucevic should do wonders for Simmons’ offensive game. 

It may also hurt their defense. That’s fine.

Simmons remains All-World in that area – this deal increases his responsibilities on that end of the floor while lightening his load on the other.
