Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
The Knicks want a star player. They made that obvious this summer by chasing Donovan Mitchell.
Michael Porter Jr. may be one. After all, 6’10 wings who can create their own shot while doubling as elite floor spacers don’t grow on trees. On the other hand, he doesn’t need to be one to justify this deal for New York.
That elite floor spacing justifies it on its own. Porter Jr will make the game easier for Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson with his three-point gravity. Any improvement makes the Knicks more attractive to star players.
Of course, this is a risk for New York.
