Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal
Astute readers will know that the Mavericks aren’t really in this one for Reddish.
They’re in it for Quickley. After all, this team is in dire need of a secondary ball-handler behind Luka Doncic. Quickley could be perfect for the job: he can create his own shot and provide strong point-of-attack defense at the same time.
Still, if Reddish works out, that could be a huge bonus. In theory, he’s a 3-and-D wing who provides some shot creation on the side. He’s still young enough to meet that potential: if he did, he’d be a perfect complementary player for Doncic.
Generally, contending teams like Dallas don’t acquire young players. They should make an exception for this deal.
