How This Trade Impacts Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers, when healthy, look like they can be bonafide contenders in the Eastern Conference. The trio of Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey is a dangerous one and they have really good complementary players in Tobias Harris and P.J. Tucker around them.
If the 76ers have learned anything from this stretch without Harden and Maxey, and earlier in the season without Embiid, it is that they have done a good job replenishing the depth on this roster. Looking to get under the luxury tax, this deal with the Los Angeles Lakers could provide them with that chance.
Matisse Thybulle and Furkan Korkmaz have played more recently because of injuries, but when healthy, they are out of the rotation. Jaden Springer is even further down the depth chart as he has appeared in four regular-season games since being selected in the 2021 NBA Draft. Flipping those three in a package for an expiring contract, such as Patrick Beverley, would be intriguing.
Beverley is also someone that gets along with Harden from their time together with the Houston Rockets. Daryl Morey has brought the band back together, adding former Rockets P.J. Tucker, Danuel House Jr. and Montrezl Harrell to the mix this season as well.

Beverley also cannot play worse than he has with the Lakers thus far this season, so some regression to the mean is inevitable for the veteran 3-and-D guard.
