How This Trade Impacts Indiana Pacers
Given the performance of the Indiana Pacers this season, no one would blame them if they adjusted their strategy for the season slightly. While veterans such as Buddy Hield and Myles Turner were likely on the trade block, they could instead look to further build the roster up and make a run at the postseason.
Saddiq Bey would provide the Pacers with another young player that possesses some upside. While he has struggled with efficiency at times, playing alongside improved talent and an elite playmaker in Tyrese Haliburton could help him get on track.
With the size to play multiple positions, Bey has two-way potential that no anyone else on the roster possesses.
Bojan Bogdanovic would provide the team with another go-to scorer in what has been a very balanced attack thus far for the Pacers. Bogdanovic is having a career season with the Pistons as he has been everything they had hoped he would be when they acquired him from the Utah Jazz, but the team isn’t winning.

To acquire players of that caliber won’t come cheaply as the Pacers are including two first-round picks in this deal.
With Haliburton looking like a star, it makes parting ways with future draft capital easier to stomach as Bennedict Mathurin has also been excellent as a rookie.

Chris Duarte was a first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, but he has seen his role diminished greatly this season, potentially making him expendable. Aaron Nesmith, Goga Bitadze and Daniel Thies aren’t part of the rotation and are used to help match salaries to complete the deal.
