How This Trade Impacts Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers have shown that they are a team on the rise after acquiring Donovan Mitchell. They have an excellent core, but with the landscape of the NBA changing, they may have to make another big move in the future to reach their full potential.
Right now, J.B. Bickerstaff is finding success with two traditional big men in the lineup. They are suffocating teams in the paint with Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, but it remains to be seen if that strategy can work in the postseason when teams go smaller.
If the Cavaliers find that they struggle to keep up, trading one of their big men for help on the wing would make sense. DeMar DeRozan would be a nice upgrade on the wing as the third option behind Darius Garland and Mitchell.
DeRozan is playing even more efficiently than he did last season, as he should be able to thrive off of the attention that the star backcourt commands.

Moving Mobley over to the center spot full-time could also unleash the Cavaliers’ full potential on both ends of the court. Without draft capital, as they used almost all of it to acquire Mitchell, Cleveland makes up for it by also including former lottery pick Isaac Okoro in the deal.
The Cavaliers would be all-in on this move and still have some tradable pieces, such as Cedi Osman and Caris LeVert, to fill out the frontcourt depth on the roster should the need arise.
