Houston Rockets Receive: C James Wiseman, G/F Moses Moody

Golden State Warriors Receive: F/C Christian Wood, G/F Garrison Matthews 

There is an irony in getting the Rockets involved here. This would not be the first Wood trade they’d been involved in recently. 

In fact, it wasn’t so long ago that Wood was supposed to elevate this franchise.

When the  Rockets acquired him, he was supposed to be the floor spacing, pick-and-roll finishing big man they needed to make a Russell Westbrook / James Harden backcourt function. 

Things change quickly in the NBA. Apparently, adding Wood wasn’t enough to convince either star guard to stick around. Harden and Westbrook left, and suddenly, Wood was arguably the most talented player on this roster.

Until they drafted Jalen Green, and arguably Alperen Sengun as well. As the 2021-22 season wore on, it became apparent that Wood wasn’t a good fit with Houston’s youth movement. Eventually, they sent him to the Mavericks. 

Could they really send him packing so soon?
