Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal
The Raptors are giving up some quality players here. They’ll absolutely miss Anunoby. Still, Zach LaVine is a star.
As constructed, they don’t have a half-court scorer with his abilities. Pascal Siakam is solid, but he’s not as dependable as a from-scratch shot creator.
Moreover, those two would make for a potent offensive pairing. LaVine’s scoring and Siakam’s playmaking could make for one of the best one-two punches in the NBA.
Meanwhile, they’ll still have ample defensive wings. As valuable as Anunoby is, his 3-and-D skillset is more replaceable than that of an All-Star scorer like LaVine’s.
