Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal 

The Suns’ best-in-conference record is especially impressive when you consider that they’ve been without Jae Crowder for the entire season. 

Crowder issued a trade request this summer, and from all appearances, he has no intention of rescinding it. That’s part of why this is a good deal for the Suns – they’re effectively getting something for nothing. 

It just happens that what they’re getting here is valuable. Gordon is a veteran guard who can carry their second unit’s offense. That’s something the Suns could really use. 

Meanwhile, Martin has developed into a quality player in his own right.
