Some will argue that the fit between Jokic and Butler is poor. After all, Butler is, at best, an inconsistent floor spacer.
Up until this season, that hasn’t been a problem for the Heat. In fact, they made an NBA Finals appearance with Butler playing alongside playmaking big man Bam Adebayo. We have a feeling it would work with Jokic too.
Meanwhile, we’ve already touched on the benefits of adding Butler to the Nuggets. In particular, his strength as a defensive playmaker would offset Jokic’s limitations.
His ability to get a bucket may be more important. Jokic is a unique offensive talent – a team can construct their entire game plan around his playmaking.

Still, he’s not exactly the guy you draw a play for when you absolutely need a bucket down the stretch. By contrast, Butler is exactly that guy.
