Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal 

This may be a long shot for the Celtics. Again: everything is going according to plan in Beantown. 

In fact, they’ve managed this torrid start to 2022-23 without Williams III. Why would they replace him if they don’t need him in the first place? 

Well, this deal isn’t about regular season wins. It’s about the playoffs. In all likelihood, the Celtics aren’t built to last until the end without the man they call Time Lod. 

Unless they make this deal, that is. Kleber offers a similar blend of rim protection and perimeter stopping – he’s not as impactful as Williams III, but he’s still impactful. Meanwhile, Finney-Smith is the type of 3-and-D wing that fits every contender.
