Oftentimes, we want to take a major step forward. That’s natural. Still, there’s merit in taking things one step at a time. NBA teams need to use similar logic.

Let’s say you’re building a house. Sure, you may want to put a hot tub in the bathroom. Shouldn’t you have a foundation first? 

Their fans are often hoping to see them make major, groundbreaking deals. Oftentimes, a more incremental move makes more sense. 

For example, look at the Memphis Grizzlies. At 10-8, they’re in the midst of another winning season. They don’t need to make any major moves.

At the same time, if a lateral move that benefitted them was on the table, the Grizzlies would have to consider it.
