Anthony Davis has started off the season in dominant fashion and has been a big part of keeping the Los Angeles Lakers competitive. Once again, the Lakers don’t look like a team that can compete for an NBA Finals appearance. However, that has nothing to do with the way Davis has been playing.

So far this season, the Lakers have managed to compile a 5-10 record. Granted, that’s not where they wanted to be, but that is the reality of the way this current roster is built.

According to a number posted by StatMuse, Davis currently has more 30-point and 15-rebound games than some other great big men in the NBA. Among those names are Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Lebron James.

Beating out James in that category may not be super impressive, but both Embiid and Antetokounmpo are scoring and rebounding machines. These numbers show just how good Davis has been for the Lakers.

So far this season in 14 games, Davis has averaged 25.6 points per game to go along with 12.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.4 steals. He has shot 55.4 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 21.1 percent of his three-point attempts. Obviously, the three-point percentage needs to rise, but other than that he has been elite.

Perhaps the most disappointing part of those numbers is that the Lakers are only 5-10 with Davis producing that well. If things don’t change soon, Los Angeles may need to look to do a major roster overhaul.

Expect to see Anthony Davis continue producing at this level. He is playing with extreme confidence and has shown no signs of slowing down. Assuming he stays healthy, Davis could very well play his way into the MVP conversation at the end of the year.
