Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal
It may seem premature for the Mavericks to cut ties with Wood. Perhaps. On the other end, this relationship may not be going so well.
After all, in theory, Wood was supposed to be Luka Doncic’s second option. That’s hard for him to do in a reserve role. If the Mavericks don’t plan on featuring him, they may want to move on before his value tanks.
If so, this should be a solid return. The Mavericks badly need secondary ball-handling behind Luka Doncic. Mills and Curry are both veterans who provide it.
They also both space the floor. That’s critical here.
After all, the ball will largely stay in Doncic’s hands. He’ll remain the primary playmaker in Dallas no matter who they acquire.
That’s a judgement that we’re confident to make.
