Don’t look now, but the Sacramento Kings are playing some solid basketball this NBA season. After a tough start to the Mike Brown era, as the Kings went 0-4 out of the gate, he has gotten his guys on track. The players look to be getting more comfortable with their roles and it has paid off on the team’s record.

Sacramento has won seven of their last nine games, including the last four in a row. It is a very impressive winning streak as the Kings have defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets.

The victory against the Nets was a pretty historic one as they are the first team in the NBA this season to surpass the 150-point mark. Sacramento dominated Brooklyn, winning 153-121, which is the most points they have scored in a game in nearly 30 years.

The Kings look like a well-oiled machine right now as they have six players averaging double-figure points per game. What is bringing it all together is the performance of their two best players, De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

Many questioned how high the Kings’ ceiling would be with them as the centerpiece of the roster, but so far so good this season. Sabonis is averaging 17.8 points per game to go along with a team-high 11 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. Fox is also averaging 6.3 assists per game to go along with five rebounds and a team-high 24.6 points per game.

This is a true breakout season for Fox, who is putting up All-Star numbers thus far. He is having by far the best shooting season of his career, setting career highs across the board in all efficiency statistics. He is currently 15th in the NBA in points per game, but in one very important scoring stat, Fox reigns supreme.

According to StatsMuse, Fox currently leads the NBA in clutch time points. Clutch time is defined as minutes when the scoring margin is within five points with five or fewer minutes remaining in the game. Thus far this season, Fox has scored 42 points in such situations and is shooting 64.3 percent.

Just behind him on the list is Donovan Mitchell of the Cavaliers with 40. Stephen Curry of the Warriors has 39 and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks has 38.

That is quite a list for Fox to be leading. Scoring in crunch time when intensity is at a high is extremely difficult, yet Fox has been making it look easy thus far this season.

Producing at that point in the game is what separates All-Stars and superstars from everyone else and Fox is looking to break through into that tier this season. If he keeps up that level of production, not only will he receive some personal accolades, but the Kings should be able to snap their NBA record 16-year playoff drought in the process as well.
