Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal

The Warriors have two motives in this deal.

We already touched on the first one. It’s their financial situation. Rose is on an expiring contract, Fournier is not, but his pact is certainly more manageable than Thompson’s.

With that said, this group isn’t going to give Thompon away to clear salary. This deal also helps them in the short term. In essence, they’re moving one quality player to receive two.

That’s very prudent for this team. After all, the Warrior’s second unit has struggled mightily in 2022-23. Rose and Fournier would both be able to help this young group of reserves play better basketball.
