It’s worth noting that Durant may not get moved at all this year. 

Yes, he issued a trade request this summer, and yes, the Nets have looked pretty underwhelming in 2022-23. At the same time, they have actually looked better since Kyrie Irving’s suspension. 

Does that matte? It’s not uncommon for teams to temporarily improve without a star player. Usually, that success is not sustainable.

If the Nets are going to make noise this year, they’ll need Irving in order to do it.
