The Sacramento Kings are on a mission this season to snap their 16-year playoff drought. It is the longest drought in NBA history and a streak the franchise is desperate to snap. Mike Brown was the man hired for the job this offseason and thus far, he has the team playing some solid basketball.

If the Kings consistently play anywhere close to the level that they did on Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, that playoff drought is all but over. Sacramento, on national television, steamrolled Brooklyn, 153-121.

That makes the Kings the first team to break the 150-point plateau this season according to Marcus J. Spears. This is the most points that the Kings have scored in a game in nearly 30 years, as they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 154-99 in 1993. The 153 points are short of their franchise record of 165, which was set on March 12th, 1970 by the Cincinnati Royals against the San Diego Rockets.

The dismantling of the Nets was a total team effort. The Kings shot 59.6 percent overall from the field, going 20-of-41 from 3-point range and 21-of-25 from the foul line. Damontas Sabonis led the team with a plus/minus ratio of +44, as he was one of four players to finish the game +30 or better.

Seven different players scored in double-figures, led by Terence Davis with 31 off the bench. The only starter to not score in double-figures was rookie Keegan Murray. He played only 12 minutes in the game, exiting with a back injury. The score likely had something to do with the Kings holding him out, as there was no need to rush him back into a blowout victory.

Kevin Durant was the only Nets player to show any life outside of extended garbage time. It was a one-man show as he had 27 points to go along with four rebounds and six assists. Another encouraging sign for the Nets was the performance of Ben Simmons, who scored a season-high 11 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and one steal.

The defense has been an issue throughout the season for the Nets and the Kings took full advantage on Tuesday night. Shooting nights like that are rare, but it does go to show that Sacramento does have some explosive scoring options on their roster as they look to climb the Western Conference standings.
