The 2022-23 NBA season has been a struggle thus far for the Houston Rockets. There was some hope that they would start to show signs of improvement this season as they are loaded with young talent, but that has not yet been the case.

Houston is currently 2-12 after losing to the LA Clippers on Monday night, 122-106. It was the team’s third consecutive loss as they are finding no success on either end of the court. They are currently 26th in offensive rating and 29th in defensive rating and patience is beginning to run thin.

This is a team without many veteran presences as Boban Marjoanovic and Eric Gordon are the only players on their second contracts in the NBA. Being on a losing team that is rebuilding is never easy and it sounds as if Gordon is becoming frustrated with the situation.

Gordon is the last remaining veteran from the Mike D’Antoni and James Harden era on the roster. Everyone else from those contending teams is long gone but the organization loves what Gordon brings to the table as a fit lineup wise given his veteran leadership. However, it is fair to question how much longer it will be until Gordon asks for a trade out of town.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Eric Gordon & Houston Rockets Updates

There has been plenty of interest in Gordon in the past as teams were reportedly offering first-round picks in exchange for him during the 2022 NBA Draft. Houston declined those offers, but they may have to get back on the phone soon as Gordon is frustrated by the situation.

Following Monday’s loss, Gordon took to Twitter and shared an angry emoji face in his tweet. This goes in line with the comments that he made post-game, where he expressed how tough it is being in a situation like the one that the Rockets are enduring.

“It’s been the same old thing year in year out, game-to-game. It’s just been tough, man. This is a long season, and when you have games like this early on, it’s tough.”

Something will have to give eventually, as trade rumors will undoubtedly pick up again involving him in the coming weeks and months. Numerous contenders would love to add him to their roster, providing a scoring punch and some positional versatility defensively as Gordon is capable of defending backcourt and wing players.

The Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat are just a few teams that Gordon would be a good fit on or has been linked to. The Los Angeles Lakers were linked to him during the offseason, but it is anyone’s guess what they will do as they only have one more victory than the Rockets this season.
