Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

Some will not love this deal for Brooklyn. They’d prefer to see them receive an excessive number of first-round picks in exchange for Durant. 

Fair enough. After all, they gave up an absurd amount to rent James Harden from the Houston Rockets. Now, they’re left with precious little draft capital moving forward. 

Here’s the rub: barring a three-team deal including the Rockets, the Sixers aren’t getting those picks back. With that in mind, they might as well get some quality players in return for Durant if they’re forced to deal him. 

In other words, a young star, a veteran, and some draft capital ought to do. If the Nets agree, this is a perfect return for them.

The highlight of the deal is Maxey. He looks the part of a multiple-time All-Star and could become the centerpiece of this team moving forward.
