Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

This trade should only appeal to the Lakers if trading Westbrook doesn’t. 

Surely, he’s a more obvious trade candidate than Davis. At the same time, the Lakers would have to attach draft capital to get off of Westbrook’s contract. This deal has them actually receiving some. 

It also has them receiving players who would complement Westbrook. We already touched on Horford’s superior floor spacing in comparison to Davis. That will be instrumental in maximizing Westbrook’s abilities. 

Meanwhile, Williams is one of the better floor-spacing forwards in the NBA. Following this deal, the Lakers could field a starting lineup that’s tailor-made for Westbrook – and, for that matter, LeBron James.
