Some Grizzlies fans will not like this deal.
Hardworking role players have a way of endearing themselves to a fanbase. The Grizzlies part with three of them here. After dedicating so many words to the importance of their depth, how could we have them blowing it up?
Well, Anthony Davis is a lot better than any of the players they’re landing here. Sure, he’s declined over the last few years, but that remains a fact. The Grizzlies are getting the best player in this deal.
It may not improve them right away, either. Davis and Steven Adams could make for a clunky fit. Frankly, this deal is all about Jackson Jr.’s return.
With his ability to space the floor, he should make for a lethal frontcourt pairing with Davis. It’s not difficult to envision the two as the backbone of the best defense in the NBA.
