Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
As successful as the Warriors have been in recent years, their 2022-23 season is off to a rough start. At 4-7, they’ve been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA.
The Warriors have touted a “two timelines” approach in recent years. They’ve been trying to win now and build for later concurrently. With the 2021-22 championship in their rearview and a number of exciting prospects on their bench, one would have to conclude that it’s been successful.
This year, the success of that plan may be running out. Those prospects on this team’s bench are not ready to play winning NBA basketball. The Warriors’ second unit is getting thrashed. They’ll need to improve their depth if they want to repeat as champions.
Acquiring P.J. Washington goes a long way toward doing so. Meanwhile, his functional similarities to Draymond Green make him a great fit.
