Raise your hand if you’re an NBA fan optimistic about the Los Angeles Lakers. If you’ve got a hand raised, ask yourself some questions. Who are you lying to? Us, or yourself? Why do you intend to torture yourself this way? 

To begin the 2022-23 season, the Lakers are off to an 0-5 start. It has not been pretty. Realistically, all of the problems that plagued them in 2021-22 have carried over into this season. 

With that in mind, many fans expect them to move Russell Westbrook as soon as possible. Of course, that would be a reasonable course of action.

On the other hand, the Lakers would likely have to attach draft capital in order to make it happen.

If they’d prefer to hang onto their future assets, they’ll need to add players who complement Westbrook. 

Specifically, they’ll need elite floor spacers. Here’s a deal that has them landing one in Doug McDermott of the San Antonio Spurs.
