One of the more anticipated matchups in the early going of the 2022-23 NBA season went down on Tuesday evening as the defending champion Golden State Warriors paid a visit to the Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix played an excellent game on both ends as they came away with a 134-105 victory.

Devin Booker starred once again for the Suns, as he continued his great start to the campaign. He poured in 34 points on 10-of-19 from the field, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range and 11-of-14 from the foul line. Booker added seven assists, two rebounds and three steals to round out his strong night.

On top of his strong night, Booker also seemingly played a part in the ejection of Klay Thompson. Thompson had never been ejected before Tuesday evening as he jawed with Booker the entire night before eventually being sent to the showers early.

So, what was said between the two players in the heat of the game? Thompson was reminding Booker of how many championship rings he has. According to Booker, he was repeating it over and over throughout the night.

Ring counting is certainly something that Thompson has the edge in, but to use that as your means of trash talk is pretty weak. He certainly needs some stronger trash talk as it didn’t help knock Booker off his game.

Booker was cooking Klay Thompson throughout the evening while the Warriors’ sharpshooter struggled to find his shooting stroke, going 1-for-8 from the field and 0-for-5 on 3-point attempts. Sometimes, you just have to tip your cap to your opponent and go on about your business.

Devin Booker was the better player on Tuesday night and helped his team get the win in what will certainly not be the last meeting between the two star shooting guards. You can expect both teams and players to be motivated the next time they take the court as Golden State will be looking to exact some revenge after this blowout loss.
